Susquehanna Bancshares has selected Capital BlueCross to serve as its health insurance provider.

Under the three-year contract, which follows previously signed 12 year agreement, the company will continue to offer health coverage to 4,900 people, including employees of Susquehanna and their family members.

Susquehanna Bancshares chairman and chief executive officer William Reuter said, "Capital BlueCross has been flexible and responsive in helping us deliver cost-effective coverage for our employees' medical and prescription drug needs."

"They have been a key partner in developing competitive employee benefit programs and offering expanded programs focused on employee health and wellness."

Capital BlueCross is a health insurer providing coverage to residents in central Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.

Headquartered in Harrisburg, the insurer is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
