US-based chicken processing company Perdue Farms is recalling around 15,306 pounds of frozen, fully cooked chicken nugget products as they may be contaminated with extraneous materials.

The product recalled is an 8-oz. box of "APPLEGATE naturals CHICKEN NUGGETS", bearing the establishment number "P2617" and the "BEST BEFORE" date of "02/05/15", according to the US Department of Agriculture's FSIS.

The products have been distributed to retail outlets across the country.

The problem has been noticed by the company following complaints from consumers, who found small pieces of plastic in the products.

Till date no reports of injury or illness from consumption of the product have been received by the company and FSIS.

Applegate withdrew this product on 8 August; however, as it is a frozen product, the company expects that consumers may still have the product in their possession.
